Seeking Applications for Executive Director PositionNewport News Green Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote the creation and preservation of green space in the City of Newport News, Virginia, through advocacy, acquisition and assistance to others, in order to make Newport News a more visually attractive place to live, work and play. The Green Foundation seeks a motivated, experienced Executive Director who will have direct responsibility for review and implementation of our Comprehensive Strategic Plan, Marketing and Communication Plan, and Development and Fundraising Plan.
Demonstrated, successful non-profit management experience preferred. Proven, effective written and oral communication and presentation skills required. Political, financial, marketing and fundraising acumen and experience is critical. Fundraising experience at a senior level preferred. Real estate knowledge beneficial. Successful candidate will have responsibility for all aspects of day-to-day operations of the organization. Executive Director will report directly to the Board of Directors. A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Administration, Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Welcome to the Newport News Green Foundation
The Newport News Green Foundation was established by resolution of the Newport News City Council in June 1998, and became a separately chartered nonprofit, charitable organization five months later. The organization of the Green Foundation was prompted by Council’s awareness that urban development had changed the appearance of the City to the extent that landscaping needed to be reintroduced along urban corridors as well as in green areas that had been established to enhance the quality of life of the citizens of the City.
Our mission is to promote the creation and preservation of green space throughout the City of Newport News through advocacy, acquisition, and assistance to others in order to make Newport News a more visually attractive place to live, work, and play.
